QUETTA - Four people, including the nephew of a leader of the ruling National Party, were killed and another two received bullet injuries in various areas of Balochistan on Friday. In the first incident, unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire on a Levies employee Chiragh Buledi and fled. Buledi died on the spot. He was the nephew of Jan Mohammad Buledi, the National Party central leader and spokesman for the government of Balochistan. Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch who was in Islamabad, rushed to Kechh after curtailing his official engagements to attend the last rites of the slain relative of party leaders. Separately on Sakran Road in Hub town of Lasbela district, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a roadside tea stall and disappeared. As a result, Attaullah died after receiving fatal injuries while his colleague Doda got injured and was shifted to hospital. In the same district, unidentified people opened fire on a tailor Mohmmad Arif in Allahabad area. He later died at a hospital of severe bullet injuries. In similar incident in Naag area of Punjgur district, armed people sprayed bullets on two people, resulting in the death of Abdur Rahman. Another man, Abdur Razak, was injured in the incident. Police and Levies forces registered cases and started investigation.

The sacrifices of Baloch martyrs have psychologically defeated the state: Baloch Salvation Front
The Baloch Salvation Front paid glowing tributes to Baloch Martyrs
of the month of July in a statement on Monday (1, July 2013).
The BSF, an alliance of Baloch Watan Movement, Baloch Liberation Party and Baloch Gohaar Movement, said that Mir Abdul Ghaffar Langove a founding leader of Baloch freedom movement, Comrade Noor Ahmad Qambrani, Omer Mengal and other Baloch martyrs have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Balochistan and the Baloch nation is proud of their practical struggle and sacrifices.
Thousands of brave Baloch sons with their continuous struggle have psychologically defeated the state. The Baloch are struggling to get rid of slavery and live a prosperous and peaceful life and in this regard the sacrifices of Baloch martyrs are a guiding torch. The practical and ideological struggle of the Baloch youth has prepared the nation to stand firmly for their freedom.
The enemy of Baloch nation through its inhuman and brutal mediums has intensified the genocide of Baloch nation. Thousands of Baloch youth have been killed under the state’s policy of killed and dump and their bodies have been dumped in desolated areas across Balochistan.
The BSF said when first time the anti Baloch forces of Pakistan detained Abdul Ghaffar Langove, they subjected him to brutal tortured but they could not break him or forces him abandon the freedom struggle. The second time they killed Mir Ghaffar under custody after abduction and threw his body.
“Such actions of the state show its defeat and frustration and mental pressure. In an equally brutal fashion the state hired criminals attack aged Baloch activist Noor Ahmar Qambarani Baloch and stabbed him to death. Which again illustrates the states hesitation and fear from the Baloch liberation struggle,” Said the Baloch Salvation Front.
The BSF spokesperson further said that state was using its collective forces and entire machinery to counter the freedom movement and the Parliament and the judiciary are also trying to conceal the crimes of military by playing the drama of fake sympathy with the Baloch nation whereas in reality they are providing more oxygen to the state occupation over Baloch land.
The Baloch Salvation Front said that Baloch nation should understand the evil planning of the occupying state and it cronies who try to express their so called sympathy with the Baloch.
The spokesperson said Baloch freedom struggle is gaining international momentum that is why the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the so called Commission for missing persons are on one hand trying to calm and defuse the Baloch hatred against the state whereas on the other hand they misleading the international community about Baloch freedom struggle.
The BSF urged the Baloch nation not to be tricked by the fake expression of sympathy by such people, who one way or other represent the state. The Baloch youth should spend their time and energy strengthening the Baloch freedom struggle. “Difficulties and sacrifices are part of freedom struggles and our enemy (occupying state) is not a decent one that we expect it to let us be free without struggle. In fact the history of all nations in the world that acquired their freedom from occupying states is full of sacrifices, difficulties and hurdles,” The Baloch Salvation Front said.

Balochistan: Educational Infrastructure Being Strengthened .
The education department in
Balochistan is developing a strategy to improve access to, and quality of,
education.

Balochistan education department is
in the process of evolving a comprehensive strategy which will equally focus on
increasing the children’s access to education infrastructure and improving the
quality of education across the province.
Provincial Education Secretary
(Schools) Ghulam Ali Baloch while speaking at a briefing about Balochistan
Education Information Management System (BEMIS) here Saturday acknowledged the
grey areas in existing educational data collection system providing room to
ghost teachers and schools but vowed that the department will soon remove all
hindrances in way of compiling accurate information on education sector in
order to enable the department to make pragmatic plans and ensure their
effective implementation.
He termed the perfect baseline data
of a particular location inevitable to make the uplift scheme for inhabitants
of that area inevitable and said the present government instead of the
political rhetoric believes in sustainable development of the education sector.
He said the department has its own mechanism for counter verification of the
details compiled by BEMIS which have also been put on its website.
“These details include number of
public sector educational institutions along with their location, sanctioned
teaching staff, enrolled students and facilities across the province”, he said
and invited the members of civil society, media men and the people of all walks
life to share with the department’s high ups if they find any physical
difference with that of the details the department had put on its website.
“This would not only help get the
department rid of ghost teachers and educational institutions but also ensure
facilities to these institutions as had been projected in the website”, he
added. To a query about alleged corruption in education funds, he assured that
effective efforts were being made to ensure fair utilization of the funds
besides getting the education department rid of corrupt officials.
Referring to exorbitant fees charged
by private sector educational institutions, the provincial education secretary
regretted that no legislation had so far been made to regulate these
institutions. He, however, assured that the department would soon propose for
enacting law to regulate the privately run educational institutions and
religious seminaries to bring them in mainstream.

2013 - Islamabad—The world is looking anew on Balochistan as China is making a thumping entry
by taking over control of Gwadar Port and agreeing to build an ambitious
Gwadar-Kashgar economic corridor in partnership with Pakistan. Balochistan, the
largest province of Pakistan, with an area of 347,190 square kilometres, but
sparsely populated with 7.9 million people, has emerged as a vibrant factor
when it comes to trade and
energy supplies in the region.
Rana Abdul Baqi, an analyst, says Balochistan’s fortunes will be changing as China will make itsinvestments to turn the province into a trade and energy corridor linking Gwadar Port to Silk Route extending into Central Asian states. Growing interest of China in taking advantage of Balochistan’s potential as regional trade hub, has drawn attention of other powerful players, many giving out ambivalent vibes.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif calls Gwadar-Kashgar economic corridor, a game changer, benefitting three billion people in the region. Balochistan province will serve as a transit zone for Iranian natural gas pipeline for Pakistan and Gwadar port is seen as a logistical hub for Afghanistan and Central Asia’s landlocked nations. China, which is partner of Pakistan, in many of its mega strategic infrastructure projects took control of Gwadar port during the first visit to Pakistan by China’s premier Li Keqiang in May.
China’s Overseas Ports Holding Company took charge of the port under an agreement signed in February after buying shares of the Gwadar Port from Port of Singapore Authority (PSA). Talking recently at a conference on Balochistan, Abdul Baqi expressed concern about growing interest of world powers and named intelligence agencies CIA, Mossad and RAW as trouble makers in Balochistan. He said former ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Hussain Haqqani issued visas to thousands of Americans, many of them intelligence operatives of infamous outfit Blackwater.
Gwadar port has assumed great importance in defence strategy of Pakistan. Abdul Baqi reminded that India’s navy, which besieged Karachi port in a war some decades ago, will now get its naval tail extended. Now Gwadar port will be connected to far north of the country through two additional routes including Indus Highway giving more strategic space to Pakistan’s armed forces.
Former army chief General (R) Aslam Beg sees conspiracies all around when it comes to events in Balochistan and is blunt in saying that Pervez Musharraf set the country in wrong direction by aiding an attack on Afghanistan. He stressed that politicians should take lead in effectively administering Balochistan province and resolving grievances of people. Defence analyst and leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Lt Gen (R) Malik Abdul Qayyum holds previous federal governments responsible for creating mess in Balochistan.
He saw Balochistan as a golden bridge connecting land locked states with sea lanes of Strait of Hormuz and Persian Gulf and trade routes reaching far and wide in East and Central Asia andMiddle East. Abdul Qayyum quoted figures of 19 trillion cubic feet of gas and six trillion barrels of oil that go with huge deposits of gold, copper, iron ore, marble, limestone and a wealth of minerals still lying unexplored in Balochistan.
American think tanks like Carnegie Endowment for International Peace mentioned worriness of United States over growing Chinese influence in the region. Pakistani analysts also take note that seven consulates of India are working in areas of Afghanistan close to Pakistan border.—APP

Agencies' role in Balochistan: Asma warns of threat to democracy.
QUETTA: Renowned human rights
activist and Human Rights Commission of Pakistan former chairperson Asma
Jahangir on Tuesday said that if the role of security agencies in Balochistan
did not change, it would be disastrous for the democracy.
A team of HRCP members, comprising
Asma Jahangir, Justice Malik Saeed Hassan, journalist Kamran Shafi, cultural
critic and human rights activist Ghazi Salahuddin, researcher Nazish Brohi and
HRCP editor Rafia Asim arrived in the province a few days earlier where they
met with officials, members of political parties, lawyers, members of the
press, ethnic and religious minority groups and NGOs in the wake of sad
incidents of attack on Sardar Bahadur Khan (SBK) Women University, BMC complex
and Ziarat.
Speaking to a news conference
flanked by Lahore High Court former justice Saeed Ahsan, renowned journalist
Kamran Shafi, Advocate Zahor Ahmed Shahwani and Advocate Tahir Hussain, she
said, "Avoiding a pro-security policy, pro-peoples policies have to be formulated."

She said that the killing of
hairdressers, doctors and teachers was not the solution of the problem, adding
that if the atrocity is responded with atrocities, it would bear atrocious
results.
"People have taken to the
mountains due to the operations in Balochistan," Asma said and added that
the resistant forces should suspend their activities for a particular period.
"After the incidents of Sardar
Bahudur Khan (SBK) University, BMC and Ziarat, they had come to re-evaluate the
gravity of the problem and they had met with the government officials, families
of the missing persons, students and administration of the SBK, doctors and
nurses," she said.
It was a positive sign that the
people had pinned hopes on the newly installed government and added that she
had a close eye over the situation of Balochistan and would not ignore it in
the future. She said that the HRCP had visited the province before the
assassination of Nawab Akbar Bugti and had acquainted the then government of
the disastrous consequences of a military operation in the province.
On the occasion, she said that HRCP
would present detailed reports on the recent incidents in Balochistan which
would also incorporate police reforms, custom duties and other proposals. She
said that having met with the various people, she came to conclusion that the
new government is a ray of hope for the people but killing and throwing four
missing persons on the oath taking day of the government is a sign of not
changing the policy.
She said that the double standard
policies of the government and security forces should come to an end and
recommended that the provincial government should also recruit human rights
advisors.
She appealed to the security and
intelligence agencies to work with the purview of the constitution.

Khuzdar : At least three people including a college professor were killed in three separate incident of firing in Khuzdar and Mastung areas of Balochistan on Thursday.
According to details Degree Collage Khuzdar teachers, Professor Abdul Razaq Zehri Baloch and Professor Abdul Hakeem, were on their way home for iftar (breaking their fast) after teaching at a tuition center when two armed motorcyclists opened fire on them at Chakar Khan Road of Khuzdar town near the local post office.
Both the professors were seriously wounded and were rushed to District Headquarters Hospital Khuzdar, where Professor Abdul Razaq Baloch succumbed to injuries. Hospital sources said that Professor Abdul Hakeem was also in a critical condition.
Apart from teaching at Khuzdar Degree college Professor Razzag Baloch used to teach at Language centers, coaching and part time tuition to hundreds of Children in Khuzdar city.
In another incident a man identified as Muheem Khan was gunned down in Naal area of Khuzdar district.
The motive behind the killing them could not be known, police official added.
In a separate similar incident a man was killed in Mastung town of Balochistan.
According to police, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on a shop located on Chandi Road of Mastung and fled. Resultantly, a man, identified as Ghulam Haider, who was sitting outside the shop, died instantaneously. Police rushed to the site after the incident and shifted the body to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile a group calling themselves Sindhudesh Cyber Army claimed that they have deleted the membership record of all registered members/users of Preston University website. This record constitutes the registration data from 1998 to 2013.
The SCA claimed that the website was hacked to record their protest against the killing of Professor Razzak Zehri Baloch, adding that, “None of the registered members of http://preston.edu.pk can sign into their accounts. We have launched this attack to record our protest against interference and stationing of state forces in academic institutions of Sindh and murder of Baloch Professor Raziq Baloch by intelligence agencies in Balochistan
